Daisygrl06 you are correct that it is important to let the horse know when its response is what the rider/handler is asking. I would add after watching this horse that the horse is reacting to the bit and would do better in a Bitless Bridle but needs to be taught what the word “back” means from the ground before trying to teach it from the saddle.

The issue that …
The issue that stands out to me is that she’s not rewarding the horse with a pat or any indication that lets the horse know that it did well once she completed the task asked. This is very important in training a horse, positive reinforcement is critical to good training.

I would agree with bucklesluva, the last thing they should worry about is backing right now. It is also too bad they show the girl asking for so many steps if this is a horse that is just learning. She is not releasing pressure with the slightest try
– the horse is not in a good frame for a horse that seems to understand a back-up

that girl is a good rider and so what if the horse knows how to back up that isnt the point.the point is training the horse and getting it to do what you want it to be and to work as a team so well done :)

A horse that is fidgenting that much should be corrected. If they are young now it needs to be corrected or it will be a huge problem when they are older

You need to visit a trainer/instructor and get some help. I’m not sure you should get a horse if you don’t know the basics such as backing up and collection.

hello I am getting a horse who is a 5 pces horse what is that ?? He is trained but sometimes stumbles, not too bad, what is a way to fix that? I was also woundering how to back up do u pull on the riens to get them to do it then use the use ur legs?? Thats for the help
