how do you spend on a horse annually?
ByI was just wondering how much is a horse when you initially buy the horse and have to buy all the accessories and food etc for it and how much it is approximately annually to pay for the horse???
Depends on what breed of horse you want and how well trained the horse is. I half lease a TB mare and ride in hunt seat competitions. My ultimate plan is to buy her and she will be $10,000 at 10 years old. She is a highly trained hunter/jumper, so the price is reasonable. I only pay half boar at the moment for $275 a month. When I do buy her, board will be $525 a month which includes cleaning and feeding, but I will have to buy my own feed and supplements. The prices of tack varies depending on your chosen discipline. My saddle was $800 and my bridle was about $130. Then you have your riding clothes and boots and stuff. You can find reasonably priced things on ebay. It just really depends on what type of horse you’re buying and what you plan on doing with him or her.

My horse was $4000 dollars, just him alone.
So .. $700 dollar payment every month, untill $4000 is up.
$360 a month for boarding (feed included)
$100 dollars a month for lessons (4 $25 dollar lessons)
Usually about $300 dollars a year in small accessoires
around $700 or more for a good saddle
around $45 dollars for a good bridle
$60 dollars for 4 shoes (4 times a year)

My horse cost $7000 a year to keep.
If you want to ride it often, you will have to feed it more than grass.Feeding doubles or even triples your yearly bill.So does stabling fees.If you have to feed or stable your horse, you can lose $20 000 to $30 000 a year.
My horse cost me $30 000.
That included him, hiring the vet to check him out,and hiring a float to get him home, and buying all his equipment and tack and his first month of hay.
Horses can cost thousands and thousands if they get sick or injured. My vet charges $500 just to come out and look at the horse to see what the problem is.

My gelding was $7500.
I pay $350 a month to board him.
I got a fitted saddle for him when i got him. $750.
I got a matching breast collar and headstall $150.
I bought a Won pad $150.
I pay board so they feed him, turn him out, put on his blanket when he needs it, etc. So i pay $350 a month basically for his ‘room and board’. I spend a lot on him, i’ll admit. You dont need a $7,500 horse, or have a box stall etc. and you can get nice tack for less that fits your horse. my first horse was like $500, and i had no where near cream of the crop tack. If you go to tack swaps they often times have great tack for a cheap price. Its used but some of it isnt. I could pay $200 a month for just pasture board but i feel bad making him stay outside even though he’d probably be just fine :].

well my mare was $2000 to buy her but they are all priced differently.
a good saddle would be anywhere from $500-1000
a good bridle about $50
accessories i spend about $400 a year
board i don’t pay (keep her at my grandmas) but it always varies
farrier bill i pay $30 every 6-8 weeks but she doesn’t wear shoes
food(feed and hay) i partially pay for it is $250 a year for me
and when the vet comes once a year i pay around $100-200 for shots, dewormer, etc.
there could be other things you buy like if you show or if your horse gets hurt so we cant give you an exact amount but that’s what i basically pay a year.
