Hi, I was riding today and someone was talking about a rope gag bit. I was wondering what sort of horse wheres one , would you put in on a horse that can bolt or a normal horse if you get what i mean ?

A rope gag has an actual piece of rope as the bit. I have not seen one in years and am pretty sure they don’t make them anymore.

The gag you show in the picture is actually a relatively mild bit that is used to help balance a horse. This bit is used on jumpers.

Gag bits were designed to aid in control and leverage. Gag rounds slide through the rings of the bit and are connected directly to the reins. As the reins are used, pressure is applied to the poll, while the bit works in the horse’s mouth.

The saddle I am looking at is a Dakota Saddlery Trail Saddle. I wanna know what other saddle accessories I need for the saddle.

I would like a turquoise halter and some matching accessories (saddle pad, boots, etc.) but it’s a difficult color to find. where can i find these things?

I think you can handle it from there, just navigate, most halters are under the tack sections. there are lots more sites to chose from but these are the main ones that I use.

I LOVE the color teal, I have a teal halter that I got from the local tack shop.

I was just wondering how much is a horse when you initially buy the horse and have to buy all the accessories and food etc for it and how much it is approximately annually to pay for the horse???

Depends on what breed of horse you want and how well trained the horse is. I half lease a TB mare and ride in hunt seat competitions. My ultimate plan is to buy her and she will be $10,000 at 10 years old. She is a highly trained hunter/jumper, so the price is reasonable. I only pay half boar at the moment for $275 a month. When I do buy her, board will be $525 a month which includes cleaning and feeding, but I will have to buy my own feed and supplements. The prices of tack varies depending on your chosen discipline. My saddle was $800 and my bridle was about $130. Then you have your riding clothes and boots and stuff. You can find reasonably priced things on ebay. It just really depends on what type of horse you’re buying and what you plan on doing with him or her.
