Books on Horse Riding for beginners?

Hi, I’m asking lots today!

Can anyone recommend me some books for horse riding beginners, that can supplement taught group lessons?

Please include full title, author, and price if possible (UK only).
Just a note – as well as having lists of possible books, personal preference of book is good. Tell me why you think it’s good, and if you’ve ever used it for yourself, or someone you’ve worked with. Thanks!

I found this book really helpful. It covers EVERYTHING!
The Usbourne Complete Book of Riding and Pony Care- available from most good horsey shops, and Amazon. Depending on whether you get that one, or the Usborne Little book of Riding and Pony Care( exactly the same, just half the size!) it is either £8.99 or the small one is £5.99

What are some good horse starting books?

I just bought a 2 year old gelding that so far is broke and has tons of western pleasure training. My trainer will work with him most of the time but I would like to work a little bit with him too.

This book was required reading for the colts in training class I had to take: "True Horsemanship Through Feel" by Bill Dorrance and Leslie Desmond. You could also try the book "There Are No Problem Horses, Only Problem Riders" by Mary Twelveponies. For working on balance and horsemanship, Sally Swift’s "Centered Riding" books 1 & 2 are rather good.

I LOVE Chestnut Hill by Lauren Brooke- all of the books are absolutely amazing. I also love her other series Heartland. I can read her books over and over and NEVER get bored.
